CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- As tech jobs continue to come to Charlotte, Johnson C. Smith University is making sure their graduates are prepared to fill the openings.

Danielle Brockington works in a technology-driven field and came to JCSU's Makers Space Conference to get a better understanding of emerging tools she can use in her business.

"I can definitely see applications of how I can use this in my art and in my business," she says.

The Charlotte graphic designer is one of dozens who came to create and learn at this technology workshop.

Dr. Chantell McDowell created the event to give a hands-on approach to technology and entrepreneurship.

"Charlotte is becoming one of the high-tech cities and we want to be able to prepare our students to be competitive," says Dr. McDowell.

The event featured several demonstrations to help students and the community be competitive in an ever-changing world.

The University recently debuted its entrepreneur hub, where students can come with their ideas then find guidance to bring them to life.
