SAN ANTONIO - An Alaskan husky is back home at the San Antonio Humane Society after being stolen the day before.

The dog, named Hedge-Hog, was taken by a couple visiting the shelter.

The nine-month-old dog had been at the shelter since February and was officially put up for adoption Saturday.

Survellience video caught the unidentified visitors walking the dog out. A spokeswoman for the Humane Society said the front lobby was busy with ongoing adoptions and didn't notice the couple leave with Hedge-Hog.

Once staff realized he was missing they put a plea on social media for his return. After a night of being gone, the couple returned him to the shelter just before 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

"We were like, 'Oh my gosh, Hedge-Hog! He is back.' The woman who brought him to the door said she found him and she gave us the leash and took off. So like I mentioned, our main concern was that he was here, he's safe and he's healthy," said Felicia Nino of the San Antonio Humane Society.

The Humane Society said they aren't sure if they are going to pursue the couple who took him. They are, however, looking for more volunteers to staff their busy shelter.

Hedge-Hog wasn't available for adoption on Sunday. The Humane Society said he'd likely be put back on his adoption status on Monday.

His adoption fee is approximately $50.
