SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio's favorite party with a purpose is right around the corner. That's right, Fiesta season is just about here.

And everyone is getting into the spirit.

You'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't like the sights and sounds of Fiesta - along with a chance to get your hands on this year's hot medals.

It's a staple in San Antonio, so naturally we had to pick up ours at Monarch Trophy Studio.

"They get bigger every year. We see that a lot of them have spinning parts, moving parts to them, dangling parts, so a lot of cool things are happening with the medals this year," said general manager Charles Drago.

Crews work night and day putting them together.

From design to ordering, it's a year-round effort.

"Every day is Fiesta, and it's just going on in my head. What can I do next?" said David Durbin.

Durbin is one of the premiere medal artists in town, and everyone knows his work.

"I love going to opening night and going, I did that one, that one, and, oh, all those," said Durbin.

The spirit of Fiesta really is special for everybody, whether you've been celebrating for generations or maybe you've waited a really long time to take home that Fiesta wreath. Maybe this is your first Fiesta in town and you're gearing up and ready.

Marylou Hernandez with the Cascaron Store made sure our Senior Digital Producer, Craig, had a proper welcome.

"What's so special about Fiesta is the community (is) the gathering, honoring our fallen heroes, the community getting together and being able to help all of our nonprofits. Me, myself, we give back to the autism community. I have three boys with autism," Hernandez said.

For most people, it's the charities that shine and hold a special place when it comes to the true meaning of the party with a purpose.

"That's always my favorite part - seeing that the money is going to a good program or a good charity," Drago said.
