TEXAS – For travelers looking to ditch town, getting a passport will soon cost them a bit more.

The State Department announced starting on April 2, passport acceptance fees will increase from $25 to $35.

Other fees for passport application services will stay the same.

Additionally, the department said routine services will now take an estimated four to six weeks and to wait seven to 10 business days to check on the status of passports.

Expedited passports will take three weeks to complete.

Passport requirements:

  • Pay processing fee
  • Complete DS-11 application
  • Bring proof of citizenship
  • One passport photo
  • Present primary form of identification
