CONVERSE, Texas – The teenage victim of a shooting at a community pool and playground in Converse has died.
The victim, 17-year-old Zachary Segura, was on life-support following a shooting on Feb. 25 and died three days later. Segura was found just after 3 p.m. at the MacArthur Park with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police said the teen was shot during a fight over a backpack at the park. Segura was allegedly there to meet with a man to deliver a package.
Investigators believe the shooting may have been a drug deal gone wrong. The teen’s friend allegedly witnessed the attack
The suspect accused of shooting Segura is still on the loose and is most likely also a teen, stated officials.
A suspect was arrested on Tuesday, but was released after further investigating revealed he was not the person police were looking for.
