AUSTIN, Texas — A domestic disturbance turned SWAT situation yielded no results in southeast Austin Friday morning.

Police were called to the house on the 6900 block of Villita Avenida around 8:15 a.m. Friday morning.

According to Senior Officer Demitri Hobbs, a woman and a man had a domestic disturbance at a separate location. The woman called for police and said the male possibly had a weapon.

As they approached the residence, they saw the suspect running into a house. He refused to come out and SWAT was called in to assist.

Police said the woman was safe at the time officers got to her and the neighborhood is secured.

In a second press conference at noon (watch above), police said the search for the barricaded suspect was not successful. He was not located.

A police presence will continue to be in the area to keep it secure and police will speak with the homeowner, a family member of the suspect.

Area search efforts will continue and charges will be filed. Police are not yet releasing what those charges will be or the identity of the male suspect.
