TEXAS – Over the course of seven days, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested 145 people across South and Central Texas.

According to ICE, the deportation officers were targeting immigrants ranging from 18 to 62 years old in Texas cities and towns.

ICE arrest breakdown:

  • 45 arrests in Austin
  • 41 arrests in San Antonio
  • 37 arrests in Rio Grande Valley
  • 15 arrests in Laredo
  • 7 arrests in Waco

Of the total number of arrests, 86 people had criminal convictions, 39 arrests were based on previous immigration encounters, four had pending criminal charges and 20 of them had no prior immigration history.

ICE said 128 of the arrested immigrants were from Mexico, seven were from Guatemala, seven from Honduras, one from El Salvador, one from Peru, and one from Jordan.

“The results of this operation are a clear indication of ICE’s commitment regarding the role we play in keeping our communities safe by locating, arresting and ultimately removing at-large criminal [immigrants] who pose a threat to public safety, and other immigration fugitives,” said Daniel Bible, field office director for Enforcement and Removal Operations in San Antonio.

After the arrests, it will be up to the United States Marshals to determine what will happen to each of the immigrants.
