SAN ANTONIO -- An off-duty San Antonio police officer has been charged with theft after allegedly shoplifting at a mall.

San Antonio police arrested 40-year-old Stepahine Solis Thursday on a report of a suspected shoplifter detained by loss prevention officers at Ingram Park Mall.

Police said Solis, who's been a San Antonio officer for nine years, is accused of hiding merchandise in her purse and then walking out of a store without paying.

She was charged with misdemeanor theft and released Friday on $1,000 bond. Online jail records did not list additional information for Solis or an attorney to speak for her.

Police didn't immediately identify the store or say what items were reported stolen. Solis has been put on administrative leave pending further investigation.
