There were numerous reports of elevated roads, bridges and overpasses with icy conditions. Several accidents were attributed to ice in San Antonio and Austin. Authorities repeatedly asked people to stay off the roadways unless absolutely necessary.

Meteorologist Adam Krueger said freezing temperatures will stick around all day Tuesday, and that although the precipitation will end by the afternoon, the ice could stick around.

Numerous accidents were reported around the Austin and San Antonio metro areas Tuesday morning. After 6 a.m., Austin Energy reported a car struck a power pole in northeast Austin, knocking out power to more than 1,000 customers. Power was restored by 8 a.m.
