NATIONWIDE –The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is linking an E-coli outbreak to leafy greens and romaine lettuce.

E-coli made at least 17 people across 13 states sick in late November and early December of 2017. One person reportedly died from the outbreak.

The exact source of the outbreak is still unknown. However, the CDC said all signs are pointing to romaine lettuce and leafy greens as the cause.

The CDC considers it an outbreak if more than two people contract the illness from the same contaminated food or drinks.

A similar strain caused an outbreak in Canada with 41 people getting sick.

The agency is investigating the outbreak.
