SAN ANTONIO — People opened their hearts and wallets on Friday to help the family of little Kameron Prescott who was killed by a stray bullet in Schertz last week.

Local company, LGI Homes, donated more than $30,000 to HERO W.A.T.C.H., a support group that donates money to law enforcement and firefighters, and their families.

Some of the proceeds will go to the family of Kameron Prescott to help pay for funeral expenses.

The 6-year-old was caught in the line of fire between deputies and a known felon just days before Christmas.

“It’s not going to take care of everything, but it’s a token for them to know that there’s people out here that care and that want to help as much as we can,” Rina Garcia from HERO W.A.T.C.H. said.

The boy’s grandfather, Steve Prescott, is a bike patrol officer for San Antonio police.
