HICKORY -- A Hickory man shot to death in his home and a survivor blames possible gang retaliation.

Investigators confirm the victim as 25-year-old Adrian Ramirez

Catawba County Sheriff’s Office confirms the homicide happened early Friday morning at a home off Snow Creek Road in Hickory.

A woman who asked to be identified only as Wanda, said she was the victim’s girlfriend. Wanda tells us she was asleep in bed with her boyfriend at his home when more than 100 shots burrowed through the walls.

“The bullets are flying under my head, over my head, the bullet holes are all around,” Wanda said.

She said her boyfriend died from a gunshot to the head.

Wanda said she didn't see who attacked, but claims she knows who did it, and is working with authorities to catch the person, or people, responsible for her boyfriend's murder.

“[Investigators] keep asking me about different people and different names,” Wanda said. “If I know them or where they're at and they're all related to the same family."

Wanda and family members said the victim was in a shootout with a local gang in 2015.

Since then, Wanda said the people involved have sent threatening messages to herself, family, and her now dead boyfriend.

The house where it happened has several security cameras on the outside. Wendy tells us investigators took the footage, but doesn't know if it shows the gunman.

The homicide is still under investigation. We're choosing not to release the victim's name until family is notified.
