SAN ANTONIO - Children at Roy Maas Youth Alternatives Bridge Emergency Shelter will have a little more warmth this holiday season thanks to busy hands and big hearts.

For five years now, 15-year-old Samantha Sanchez has made blankets for children at the Bridge. When she was 9, she decided she wanted to help others, so she created the nonprofit Sam's Covers.

This year she and her friends made a hundred fleece blankets and sets of pajamas.

"I want them to know that this is just a chapter in their life and they can move on from this and there's better things, and this blanket is just a symbol that there's bigger things out there for them," said Samantha Sanchez.

Samantha also donates blankets to other organizations like Haven for Hope and SAMM Ministries.
