SAN ANTONIO — Up to 600 new jobs could be coming to the Alamo City.

Ernst & Young, or EY, is looking to open a new client service center on the Northwest side.

On Thursday, City Council announced the approval of an incentive package for the financial services firm.

San Antonio was chosen for a 54,000 square-foot client center. The new location could help bring high wage jobs in financial and technology support services.

“We’re not hiring accountants to be put in this center. We’re going to be bringing English majors, psychology majors, criminal justice majors, a variety of majors that are not accountants that will be recruited from local schools. So, we’re not going to UT Austin, even if I’m alum. We’re not going to A&M. These are going to be San Antonio based kids. Texas State based kids that we’re going to hire,” said Jeff Rummel with Ernst & Young.

The state has approved a Texas Enterprise Fund grant to help Ernst & Young's new planned location.

Bexar County commissioners are also expected to vote on their incentive plan next week.
