SAN ANTONIO —  A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday night, San Antonio police said Thursday.

The accident was reported around 9:30 p.m. on Woodstone Drive near Vance Jackson Road.

Police said the 35-year-old pedestrian was crossing the street and appeared to be staggering, possibly drunk, according to witnesses.

He stumbled and one eastbound car went around him, a second also went around him but the third ran over him.

Investigators said a witness told them that the driver then sped off in a 2005 red Ford Mustang, but was unable to catch the license plate.

The pedestrian was taken to University Hospital for his injuries where he later died. Police are waiting to notify family before releasing his identity.
