SAN ANTONIO - From no texting while driving, to watching out for bicycles, students at Johnson High School got to see those lessons first-hand on Thursday.

The Johnson High School Safe Driving Club put on the annual event to help spread the word about the dangers of distracted driving - especially drinking and driving.

They let students take a turn behind the wheel of a go-kart with goggles that simulate the experience of being intoxicated.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, there were 49 DUI related fatal crashes in Bexar County in 2016.
