SAN ANTONIO - Exactly one year from now the sounds of 300 accordions will be just some of what you'll hear during San Antonio's 300th birthday party.

"It's important that our history reflect what our people are about," said Rodolfo Lopez, cofounder of Conjunto Heritage Taller. "It's happy music and it will be great to tell how it originated and how the melting of the cultures comes together."

The Conjunto Heritage Taller is one of hundreds of community organizations that will mark a milestone for the Alamo City. The Tricentennial Commission just released that list of nearly 600 partners along with a calendar of some of the events that will make up the year-long celebration.

"Nearly 700 - 679 is the number of community events," said Edward Benavides, CEO of the Tricentennial Commission. "This is in addition to the nearly 400 different community service projects that will be planned in 2018."

A list of more events will be released next month. The commission spent over a year reaching out to every corner of the city working to build a celebration that reflects the people of San Antonio.

"This is an opportunity to showcase these wonderful things we enjoy as a community and share with all of us, even with those of us that are native residents. I'm native San Antonian and there's some things that I'm learning and excited about that we'll get to experience next year," said Benavides.

For Lopez, sharing the sounds of his heritage is an honor he won't forget.

"It's very exciting that it's happening in my lifetime, that I'm part of what San Antonio has been," he said.
