SAN ANTONIO -- 2017 means another San Antonio Water System rate increase.

And on Wednesday, council will get an update on where revenue from that increase will go.

Expect your bill to go up about 7 percent.

The water company says the majority of the revenue will pay for projects like the desalination plant and for sewer system upgrades.

SAWS is expected to outline its 2017 water management plan and also give an update on the Vista Ridge project.

That meeting begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the municipal plaza building downtown.

VIA is hoping to get some help from the city to improve the frequency of ten bus routes.

City staff is recommending an increase in funding to begin in 2018.

It's a measure that's been pushed by Councilman Rey Saldana, who after spending a month riding the bus, said VIA was in dire need of help.

VIA leaders say less sales taxes are collected annually for the transportation system compared to other transit systems in the state.

But its service area is the same size or larger than the other cities.

Thursday, council could approve the measure that will mean VIA will get an additional 10 million dollars in the year 2020.
