SAN ANTONIO — In an emotional press conference, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said that seven deputies are under investigation because of an alleged hazing incident.
While Salazar did not go into explicit details during his Monday conference, six deputies used county-issued handcuffs, shackles and a Taser to haze a seventh deputy. This happened on Friday at a deputy's house where their 4-year-old daughter was present.
"It's not to be tolerated. It's not something I stand for," said Salazar.

None of the deputies were named, but they were all detention officers who are part of the Sheriff's Emergency Response Team at the Bexar County Jail. Salazar likened them to the jail's SWAT team, but added that "this behavior was anything but elite."
All seven are considered veteran officers and will be put on a 10-day administrative leave.
None of the deputies suffered "long-term harm" from the hazing incident, but Salazar said that BCSO is pursuing a criminal investigation against those involved.
The incident came to light after a video was posted on social media, which will be used as evidence in the BCSO's investigation.
