SAN ANTONIO — Twenty leaders in the local nonprofit sector are now better equipped to serve the community. It's all thanks to a 9-month intensive leadership program created by the San Antonio Area Foundation and sponsored by the Tesoro Foundation.

The Witte Museum's Vice President of Development is one of the program's graduates and has nothing but good things to say about it.

"We are a completely different organization than we were when I started ten years ago. So this program, for me, was crucial to build my leadership skills to move us into the next 100 year," said Heather Russo of the Witte Museum.

The Tesoro Leadership Fellows Program also includes management training led by local experts and mentoring sessions with established nonprofit CEOs. The purpose is to strengthen leadership skills, build understanding of nonprofit management practices and reduce isolation for new CEOs while preparing other nonprofit leaders for executive roles.
