SAN ANTONIO, Texas—The unemployment rate in the Alamo City has companies and state officials praising the area's job market.

At 3.9 percent, it's one of the lowest in the nation. The cybersecurity job sector helped the Professional and Business Services sector add 1,700 new jobs in August. Construction came in second with another 1,500 new positions.

According to regional state leaders, softening rules to spur business will be a big part of the next legislation session. Local startup companies say San Antonio is ripe for continued cybersecurity growth.

"San Antonio has one of the highest concentrations of cyber security talent. So for our industry, this is the place to be,” said Infocyte CEO Chris Gerritz.

Workforce Solutions Alamo reports more than 18,000 jobs have been added to the metro area in the last 12 months.
