SAN ANTONIO -- Young cancer patients got away from their hospital rooms for the day, and made some new friends.

The Sunshine Kids Foundation took 28 cancer patients to SeaWorld in San Antonio Tuesday, where the children met other young patients, and beluga whales.

A cancer survivor from Austin said seeing the whales was a great experience.

"They're so happy. Like, not everything we go through is happy and, you know, we see, go through some hard times and sad things. So, doing things like this and seeing them makes me really happy," said cancer survivor Brittney Rodriguez.

The non-profit organization gave the 12 to 17 year olds a chance to take their minds off some difficult moments and focus on enjoying themselves.
