SAN ANTONIO—This year's Big Give SA missed its 2016 goal by a whopping $2 million.
Leaders of the 14-county fundraising push have good reason to be upset. A massive software glitch Tuesday prevented donations to more than 1,000 local non-profits. However, organizers still managed to raise $3.6 million.
But some organizations, like the San Antonio River Foundation, had to get creative to bring in the bucks.
"Via Facebook and Twitter to get the word out that there's was an alternate way to support the River Foundation on the Big Give though our website,” said Frates Seeligson, of the San Antonio River Foundation.
The River Foundation raised $16,000 alone, which was $1,000 more than its goal. Big Give officials haven't decided who will operate the website next year.
