A new center that provides support for caregivers of seniors opened its doors Wednesday.
The Caregiver SOS Center offers free wellness, information, support and education to seniors and their caregivers.
This is the third Caregiver SOS Center in San Antonio, but it's the first that's bilingual. The nonprofit organization will provide all services in Spanish.
The new center hopes to target Hispanics caring for loved ones with chronic illness, dementia and more.
"Unfortunately, many caregivers are not aware of what the actual condition entails, so we know, talk to them about the condition, what are the symptoms, what are the treatments, what are the challenging behaviors. For example, Alzheimer’s is one,” Gloria Miranda, Caregiver SOS program manager, said.
Caregiver SOS is part of the Well Med Charitable Foundation. The foundation addresses various concerns in the community that affect older people and their quality of life.
