Look for slightly hotter weather out there as a ridge of high pressure overtakes the Lone Star State.  Dry conditions will continue to prevail until the pattern aloft shifts again in a few days, bringing back a rain chance Thursday through the early weekend.  Today's forecast calls for partly to mostly sunny skies with afternoon highs in the mid 90s potentially feeling like low 100s.

That's right, we've got enough humidity to make it feel like a hot, triple digit summer day out there.  Our in-house model shows a "feels like" temp near 100 to 103 around 3 to 5 o'clock with more sunshine than clouds.

The upper-level ridge will back off, allowing a disturbance in the NW Gulf of Mexico to ease north into the state.  It's expected to hang out nearby through Saturday, and it's not the only player coming into view.  A weak tropical disturbance southeast of Cabo San Lucas, in the Pacific, is poised to send moisture across Mexico to Texas, and that could help fuel some heavy rainfall especially on Friday and Saturday.

Then high pressure looks to take over again Sunday to Monday, bringing the rain chance down to start next week.

Computer models hint at two cold fronts in our near future:  one possibly dropping into the state (and falling apart) on Sunday, and another, stronger cold front that we think will make it all the way down to the Gulf Coast by next Wednesday.  Stay tuned!
