The rain chance continues! In fact, we're looking at even better odds for showers & storms as we head into the weekend thanks to a stalled out front. Today's forecast calls for a 50% rain/storm chance where you are, with low to mid 90s under mostly cloudy skies.

Heavy downpours hit the Hill Country harder than Austin yesterday, bringing some inflow to Lake Travis via the Pedernales River. Here's a look at the top totals:
2.58" Pedernales Rv @ LBJ Ranch
2.57" Bertram
2.36" Lakeway
1.92" Cedar Crk below Bastrop
1.84" Leander
1.43" Burnet
1.13" Spicewood
1.00" Florence
0.93" Lake Austin

After seeing nocturnal storms move north of Austin, our Thursday starts out fairly quiet but is expected to get active again as the day warms up. There's an incredible amount of moisture from both the Gulf of Mexico and Pacific Ocean crossing the Lone Star State right now, and our computer models suggest it'll be unstable enough to get some brief but notable storms in scattered fashion around the area again today. Futurecast shows some of the heaviest trying to move through around sunset, right at the time some of our high school football teams will be taking to the field.

When thunder roars, head indoors! There's no safe place to be outside during a thunderstorm, especially when you're talking about elevated metallic stands at a football stadium. It's not worth the risk...

Another lull is expected tonight then we'll bump the rain chance up to 60% for Friday and Saturday as the weak cold front slowly drifts south towards our area. Along its path, we expect the heaviest rains to concentrate and, since we're reaching saturation in some areas, it might not take long for some flash flooding to occur. Stay weather aware!

We'll talk more about travel conditions and also look at more rain totals on 'Weather on the 1s' today -- be sure to join us on TV or via the live stream.
