For the 35th time this year, we topped out at 100 in metro Austin yesterday afternoon and will likely touch the Century mark again each of the next five days.  A weak cold front could be our saving grace by next Tuesday.  Out there today, the forecast calls for a heat index or "feels like" temperature around 100-106.

We're in for even more sunshine today across our part of Texas, with morning clouds mixing out to a mostly sunny afternoon.

South-southeasterly winds will continue to pump in plenty of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico though won't be as gusty as yesterday.  We expect wind speeds around 10 mph during the early afternoon at the strongest.

In the atmosphere aloft, high pressure is slowly moving from the northern Gulf into SE Texas.  Latest computer models show the high pressure cell building strong and moving west during the remainder of the week.  It brings sinking winds, stability and lots of sunshine along its path.  As our soil continues to dry out from the rain event this past weekend, temperatures could gradually get a degree or two hotter through the upcoming weekend.

Futurecast shows signs of showers across North TX for the end of the week but we don't think there will be much more than a 10% chance for rain.  That is, until next Tuesday, when a weak "cool" front drops this direction with clouds and hopeful showers.
