We've got our eyes on a weak cold front currently in the Texas Panhandle and we think it'll drift south towards Austin with some brief relief in the next few days.  Ahead of it, the forecast calls for highs right up to the Century mark both today and tomorrow.

If we hit 100 today, it'll be our 33rd triple digit day of 2018.

Abundant humidity from the Gulf of Mexico will make it feel even hotter, with a heat index potentially up around 106 by 4 o'clock.  As a result of the moisture, we will see clouds mixing with the sun from time to time, especially during the early morning hours.

Futurecast shows a few pop-up storms along the front near the Red River Valley and along the TX Coast but no precip developing here at home today (it's a very low 10% chance.)  We'll see the odds for rain come up slightly to 20% for tomorrow and some of it could come from storm "leftovers" to our north, possibly arriving after dark.

The chance for showers & storms increases to 30% Friday through Sunday.  While I wouldn't recommend canceling any outdoor plans, do make sure you have a "plan B" including a safe shelter in case of lightning.

Our latest models show the front washing out before even making it to the CapCity, which means the impact of the front will mostly come from rain and very little cooler/drier air from the north.  Even still, we think temps might only top out in the mid 90s for many on Saturday.
