All thanks to our Tuesday cold front, we enjoyed the coolest morning in Austin since early May!  In fact, we set a new daily record low with 62 at the Airport just prior to sunrise (previously the record was 64 from 2014.)  We hope you get out and enjoy the low humidity while it lasts.  By August standards, this isn't bad at all.  Our forecast calls for a high near or right at the Century mark, which puts us slightly over the normal high of 98.

This morning's coolest low temps:
59 Jonestown (tied Marfa for state-wide low!)
60 Driftwood
61 Jollyville
61 Oak Hill
62 Austin Airport
62 Bertram
62 Dripping Springs
62 Elgin

Upper-level moisture from the north will invade our air space today in the form of some high clouds, yet there's still going to be abundant sunshine.

Light surface winds from the east-northeast will gradually turn today, becoming southeasterly by tonight.  Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will start to return and we'll feel it tomorrow as humidity levels come back up again.

Computer models show the big, hot high pressure ridge holding over the Western U.S. for several more days.  A tropical wave is expected to travel up to the Texas Coast this weekend and it'll likely help stir up some showers and storms for beachgoers.  We're looking at a fairly low 20% rain/storm chance here at home both Saturday and Sunday with mostly to partly sunny skies.  The extra clouds should help to shave off a degree or two from high temps.

Looking to next week, the oppressive summer ridge is forecast to nudge towards the Lone Star State once again, and that means another streak of triple digit days is likely.  Join us on 'Weather on the 1s' on TV or the live stream for more about the prospects for rain.
