The forecast is, well, almost too hot to handle!  We're calling for a high of 102 today in Austin, making it our 16th triple digit day of the year so far, and we think there will be at least six more coming our way before the pattern hopefully shifts next week.  It looks like a really hot rest of July.

We hope you're taking steps to keep cool & hydrated.  The best advice at this point is to simply avoid being outdoors during the 3 to 5 p.m. time frame as this is the hottest time of day.

Upper-level high pressure continues to build over the Lone Star State, and computer models show it holding strong just to the west of Austin through the weekend and beyond.  That said, here's some hope:  at least one computer model shows a shift by next Tuesday or Wednesday that could actually allow a rare July cold front into the picture.  Let's hope!  At the same time, another trusty model disagrees and suggests the very hot, dry pattern will simply continue through the rest of July.

No matter what, we sincerely want you and your family to be safe.  Keep an eye on those around you and make sure everyone is drinking lots of water and taking frequent breaks from the outdoors.
