Ready or not, here comes a sweltering hot week in Central Texas!  Abundant sunshine and strengthening high pressure join forces to elevate temperatures to near or above 100 every day this week, with a gradual rise showing up in the forecast between now and the weekend.

So far, we've endured 14 triple digit days this year yet only three of 'em have occurred this month.  Last July, we tallied up 24 days at 100 or hotter, so this one hasn't been as bad by comparison.

Slightly gusty winds from the southwest to southeast might help out a bit as they aid in evaporating our perspiration, which can help cool the body.  But, with a heat index nearing 105, it's even tougher for us to cool off naturally.  Make sure you take frequent breaks from the outdoors and drink lots of water to stay hydrated.

Futurecast shows lots of sunshine and very few storms anywhere near our part of the Lone Star State.  Upper-level high pressure currently over the Southwestern US will build towards Texas by midweek then simply dominate our weather for several days without much change.

The most comfortable time of the day?  It's the morning hours, with sunrise temperatures in the low to mid 70s.

Make sure you never leave kids or pets in a parked car, not even for a few moments, as it can quickly turn into an oven.
