Temperatures will inch up over the coming days as high pressure off to our west builds eastward into the Lone Star state next week.  We may see some excessive heat develop all ready by Tuesday. This means the heat index or "feels-like" temperature will rise to 105 or above starting Tuesday and continuing into next weekend.  Under high pressure the air sinks, drys out and heats up.  Actual temperatures will likely return to the triple digits by the middle and end of next week as well.  Look for partly to mostly sunny skies all next week with little to no rain falling from the skies.  High temperatures will range from 98 to 102 next week with the humidity making it feel even hotter.

If you're new to this heat please practice common sense in taking care of your body.  Pay attention to those warning signals.  Some of our tried and true safety tips include:
--Have plenty of water on hand to help prevent dehydration.
--When outdoors for prolonged periods of time between 12 to 6 p.m. be sure to take frequent breaks in a cool environment.
--Wear light-colored loose-fitting clothing ... and a hat, especially wide-brimmed.
--Sunscreen will always serve you well.  Use it liberally.
--Check on neighbors, especially if they live alone and/or you have a concern about their overall health.  Elderly who live on a fixed income will oftentimes sacrifice the use of their air conditioners to keep their bills down.
--Make sure your pets have adequate water and shade.  If it's hot enough for you it's hot enough for them.

Finally, we have the Beat The Heat, Check The Backseat campaign.  We don't want to lose any children, and, too, any pets, to heat death.

Your 7 Day Forecast will show how hot it will get.

Try and stay cool.
