ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- After evening storms end inland, it will be partly cloudy overnight with low temperatures in the 70s.

  • Partly cloudy overnight, lows in 70s
  • Stays warm and humid
  • Typical June day on Sunday

Sunday brings a shift in the pattern. The best chance of storms on Sunday will be in the late afternoon and into the night as a surge of moisture comes across the state from the Atlantic.

Winds will become easterly allowing the afternoon sea breeze collision to occur closer to the Gulf Coast. Storms will start on the Atlantic side then move west. Storms will end up in the coastal counties later in the day.

For Father’s Day, expect better coverage of showers and thunderstorms, about 40 oercent by the end of the day.

With rain holding off until a little later, it is likely to be a little hotter with low 90s for highs Sunday afternoon.

Rain chances will be around 40 percent on Monday. Storms will again be later in the day moving west into the coastal counties. Highs will still be in the 90s.

Rain chances look to drop on Tuesday, as some drier air moves back into the area from the northeast. The rain chance will be 20 percent.

Rain chances stay lower than normal through the rest of the work week, since somewhat drier air remains in the mid and upper levels.

High temperatures will be in the upper 80s near the coast, to low 90s inland, each afternoon.
