Heavy rains have been impacting areas from the Gulf Coast through the Coastal Plains.  We'll see occasional showers on the northwestern side of the storm system over South Texas through Thursday.

A broad area of low pressure south of Corpus Christi is producing heavy rains along the coast into the Coastal Plains.  With tropical moisture in place heavy rains of 5 to 13 inches can be expected along the coastal areas through Thursday.  Typically with tropical-like systems there is a sharp cut-off with rainfall amounts. In general, Central Texas can expect total rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches, but I wouldn't doubt if some areas in the Hill Country see lesser amounts while some counties east of the I-35 corridor pick up close to 4 inches.  With more cloud cover and occasional rain showers, temperatures will be held down in the 80s today and Wednesday.

The area of low pressure is expected to move westward into northern Mexico by Friday.  This will shut off moisture supply and bring drier weather to the area.  With sunshine returning by Friday into the weekend, expect temperatures to soar back into the mid to upper 90s as high pressure aloft builds back into the state.

That said, a lot could still change about this forecast so we hope you will tune in often to 'Weather on the 1s' on TV or the live stream for updates.
