A weak disturbance in the upper atmosphere is crossing over North Texas and could help to stir up more storms especially near the Red River Valley.  High pressure, meanwhile, is centered further west in Mexico yet still influencing our weather across South and Central Texas.  And, now, some good news.  The latest forecast models show the ridge gradually weakening later this week and a new player coming into view:  a tropical wave.

The wave is expected to develop near the Yucatan early in the week then move north and west.  We'll be watching the Gulf of Mexico for impact this weekend.  For our region, plan for increasing clouds and some showers & storms as soon as Saturday.  The odds will go from 20% to start the weekend to 30% by Sunday and Monday, when the tropical wave is forecast to hit the West Gulf coast.

As of now, I've got low to moderate confidence in this scenario panning out but it certainly looks more likely than just 24 hours ago.  Be sure to watch 'Weather on the 1s' on TV or the live stream for a look at the latest long-range models and rain projections.
