While most were sleeping, low clouds re-appeared in our Central Texas skies, a sign of more moisture from the Gulf of Mexico.  The higher humidity is going to make us sweat out there today!  Our forecast calls for highs near 90 to feel three to five degrees hotter.

South-southeasterly winds could reach up around 15 mph with gusts even higher as we get into the middle afternoon, and our latest models show the winds getting even stronger tomorrow.  Hang on to your hat!

We'll look for the repeating pattern of morning clouds to afternoon sun through Saturday with highs either side of 90 degrees.  While there might be a few drizzle drops and maybe even a hint of fog around the sunrise time frame, we don't expect much in the form of rain in the short term.

In fact, the weak cold front we had been forecasting to arrive in Texas on Mother's Day Sunday now looks to stall out well to the north, likely around the Red River Valley, with zero impact on our local weather.  We've removed any mention of showers & storms for Sunday and Monday as it stands now.

With more high pressure building over the Lone Star State, we expect this heat wave to continue into at least the middle of next week with highs above the normal of 85.  Thanks to the higher humidity, morning lows will be closer to 70 degrees.  Dress accordingly!

'Tis the season to watch the tropics.  Although the Atlantic hurricane season doesn't officially start until June 1st, there's a chance we could see a storm brewing up ahead of schedule.  While most of the Atlantic basin is running fairly cool for this time of year, waters appear to be warm enough in the Caribbean that they could support a developing tropical system...and that's exactly what at least one of our models shows happening two weeks from now.  Stay tuned.
