The weather pattern remains fairly quiet.  Breezy conditions are expected to continue during the afternoons especially for the rest of the week.  Temperatures Tuesday afternoon peaked in the middle to upper 80s.  The high at Austin-Mabry was 87, seven degrees ABOVE normal.

A cold front arrives Wednesday morning.  It has very little moisture with which to work so look for a partly to mostly cloudy around the time the front arrives.  Most lows will be in the low 60s.  A partly cloudy sky is expected during the day with highs peaking in the low to mid 80s.  A north to northeast wind 10 to 20 mph is forecast.

The outlook is for dry weather to continue to Friday, perhaps Friday night.  An upper low currently west of Oregon will move to the Four Corners by Friday then into Kansas/Oklahoma Saturday.  The low will combine with the West Texas Dry Line to set off some rain for the region.  Just like last Friday night we expect a collision of air masses as the dry line approaches to set off a few thunderstorms.  While there is no risk area to identify yet the Storm Prediction Center is suggesting there is a 15% chance of strong to possibly severe thunderstorms Saturday into Saturday evening.  More will be know by Thursday ... we will advise you.

Rain totals during this episode are expected to average anywhere from .25" to .50" ... but heavier downpours could lead to totals higher.

The cold front will arrive Saturday night/Sunday morning with very little cooling as it coming from the west as opposed to coming from the north.  You will notice the front's effect more during the mornings as opposed to the afternoons.  Still, highs Saturday and Sunday, in the low to mid 70s, will be below normal.

Monday and Tuesday will be dry with highs below 80.
