Another surge of cool, dry air from the north will make for beautiful weather across the Lone Star State today as we welcome "calendar" (or astronomical) spring.  Grab your sunshades, you'll need 'em out there today!  Look for highs in the low 70s.

Thanks to the tilt of planet Earth, todays is one of two days each year where we get nearly equaly day and night as the sun shines almost directly over the equator.  It's where we get the word "equinox."  The Vernal Equinox officially takes place at 11:15 a.m.

Northwest winds will be breezy today with gusts around 20 mph through the afternoon.  Then winds calm down and, under a clear sky, it's going to be a chilly one.  For sunrise tomorrow, we're targeting a low near 40 in metro areas with the possibility of mid to upper 30s in the suburbs and Hill Country.

Mostly sunny skies will prevail through mid-week with daytime temperatures gradually warming a bit higher through Friday, wrapping up the week with what we think will be low 80s.

A dry punch of air arrives on Saturday, allowing the "torch" effect to take temps close to 90 by Sunday.  Then another bona fide cold front drops into the region to start next week, and we'll see temps take another dip.

There's a slim rain chance Sunday through Tuesday.  NOAA's latest 7 day rain outlook suggests some 1/4" to 1/2" accumulations possible in that time frame.
