Strong to severe storms developed late Saturday afternoon as a dryline approached the I-35 corridor with large hail, gusty winds and heavy rain. Large hail was reported out of far northeastern Burnet county...up to 3 inches in diameter near the city of Briggs!

The dryline moved back into West Texas overnight, and will approach 35 a little earlier today, leading to a few isolated storms along and east of 35 through the mid-afternoon. Drier air moves in by late afternoon, clearing skies and sending daytime highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. So we'll end this last weekend of winter with more summer like heat.

Our next cold front moves in before sunrise Monday morning, delivering drier and slightly cooler air for the start of next week. Right now we're expecting lots of sunshine Monday with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Elevated fire weather conditions will develop with low humidity and gusty north winds in place. Areas east of 35, including the Hill Country, are under a Fire Weather Watch. Please be mindful of your outdoor activities and avoid outdoor burning...any fires that start may grow and spread rapidly.

Highs will be cooler in the 70s by Tuesday, the official first day of spring, with lows dipping down into the 40s by Wednesday morning. The rest of next week stays dry and comfy with highs in the upper 70s..just a few degrees above average for this time of year.
