We ended the work week with a cold front moving through Central Texas.  The front came in between 11-12 and initially dropped temps about 5-10 degrees but despite the breezy north winds, it warmed into the upper 60s and low 70s through the afternoon.  Austin-Mabry recorded a high of 71 degrees at 1:07 pm while the Austin-Airport reached 76 degrees at 11:26 am.  The clouds stuck around through the afternoon and they will hold tight through Saturday morning.  We'll see an over-running precipitation pattern set up around sunrise and this will allow some drizzle to develop.  Temperatures will drop into the upper 40s to near 50 degrees.

A weak disturbance will move over Texas form the Four Corners region on Saturday.  This will bring us a 30% rain chance through the afternoon but the latest forecast model run has the bulk of the action along and east of I-35.  Friday's cold front is expected to stall out south of I-10 until Sunday morning and then surge back to the north as a warm front.  Southerly winds will help warm us up to  70 Sunday afternoon, then we'll get closer to 80 for President's Day on Monday.  Unfortunately, we'll keep rain in the forecast for both days. A better chance for rain will continue next week.  Another cold front will push into the region on Tuesday-Wednesday with widespread rain and scattered thunderstorms.  This next storm system looks to bring us some decent rain totals between 1" - 3".  If this pans out, then we could get out of our Severe drought in the Hill Country.
