Clouds took their sweet time to clear up yesterday but we eventually saw the sun.  With a surge of moisture from the Gulf, skies went gray again last night and might provide some patchy fog and drizzle before gradually clearing up again midday.  Leave your jackets at home!  We'll get even warmer today, we think, with a forecast high near 76.

Winds will get a bit gusty out there with sustained speeds around 10 to 15 mph at times, and they're coming from the south -- directly out of the Gulf of Mexico -- which is the reason our atmosphere is more humid.  In fact, we're being primed for what looks to be several days of possible rain.  Tomorrow's chance is 30%.

Our latest computer models show a polar cold front sweeping into the Austin area during the morning hours tomorrow, and it'll bring plenty of chilly wind from the north.  Expect high temperatures in the mid 60s by or around lunch, then gradually falling 50s for the afternoon.  By sunrise Saturday, we're looking for low temps in the low to mid 40s.

In the upper atmosphere, a cell of high pressure is dominating Texas right now but is forecast to move southeast.  A southwest wind flow from the Pacific will bring more moisture into the Lone Star State this weekend along with an embedded disturbance or two.  It's a 50% rain chance both Saturday and Sunday, and we think there might be some thunder in the mix especially by Sunday evening.

In all, some one inch rain totals look possible between now and the middle of next week according to the latest projection from NOAA.  Be sure to check back as quite a bit could change about this forecast (especially beyond the weekend) -- we will have updates on "Weather on the 1s" on TV and/or the live stream.
