Grab some sleeves!  Yet another cold front sweeps through Texas today with a cooler north wind in tow, offering a slight drop in our temperatures after starting the week with mid 70s.  Today's forecast calls for highs in the low 60s at the warmest, then we're heading to widespread 30s tonight.  A light freeze looks possible in the Hill Country & suburbs by sunrise tomorrow.

The front ended up being a little bit slower than we had originally anticipated, arriving with no rain.  Sustained northerly winds around 15 mph will gust even higher during the middle of the day, then subside fairly quickly after sunset tonight.  Futurecast shows mostly clear skies, maybe with the presence of more high clouds streaming in from the Pacific, and abundant sunshine tomorrow.  We think southwesterly winds will come right back at us tomorrow, helping to elevate temperatures a few degrees above the normal 63 by 4 p.m. or so.

Our next cold front looks weaker and is currently timed to arrive early Thursday morning.  It'll offer another burst of cooling for the end of the week, with morning 40s and afternoon 60s.  For the weekend, southerly breezes bring back some warmth and moisture, and it might be enough to prime our Texas skies for some rainfall as soon as Sunday.  That's when yet another cold front is expected to move through the Lone Star State.  Latest models give us at least moderate confidence in this scenario panning out.  I'm calling it a 30% rain chance Sunday, the 20% odds on Monday.  See the 7 Day Forecast for more.

One more note:  the Geminid Meteor Shower is already underway, heading to a peak late Wednesday night through early Thursday morning.  Find out more about when and where to look here in this article.
