South Central Texas is currently under an upper-level pattern in transition. Weak high pressure is currently over Texas and the southern branch of the Jetstream has pulled Pacific moisture into the region. This will limit sunshine during the day, keeping temperatures close to normal with highs in the middle 60s. Those same clouds help keep temperatures up overnight with lows in the middle 40s Thursday morning.

A weak cold front is sweeping through the region. We’ll see winds turn to the north but little other impact will be noted. The reinforcing surge of cool dry air will drop high temperatures about ten degrees for Friday with highs in the low 60s and lows in the upper 30s.

A passing upper level disturbance brings a chance of showers on Saturday. The system will be fast-moving, so rainfall amounts should be light.

Cool temperatures continue into the week before Christmas. However, forecast models are beginning to focus on a polar outbreak just in time for Christmas weekend. Extreme cold and even icy conditions are looking more likely.  Check the details in the 7 Day Forecast.
