The end of November marks the end of the Atlantic Hurricane Season.  It was a pretty busy year with 17 storms and that put us in 5th place for the most active hurricane season.

Out of the 17 storms...
1 was a Tropical Depression - TD 4
7 were Tropical Storms - Arlene, Bret, Cindy, Don, Emily, Philppe and Rina
10 were Hurricanes - Gert, Harvey, Irma, Jose, Katia, Lee, Maria, Nate and Ophelia
6 were major Hurricanes at a Category 3 (111 mph) or higher.

This is the most storms we've had since 2017 and it was also unusual to have two Category 5 (157 mph) hurricanes in one year.

The season was above our 30-year normal of 12 storms, 6 hurricanes and 2 major hurricanes.  It also was higher than the forecast from Colorado State University of 16 names storms, 8 hurricanes and 3 major hurricanes.  NOAA's forecast was the closest with 14-19 storms, 5-9 hurricanes and 2-5 major hurricanes.
