I want to start by wishing you a very happy and joyous Thanksgiving whether it's here in Central Texas or in other parts of the country.  An extended holiday weekend means my next blog after today will be Monday.  The weather after today will be ideal for this upcoming holiday.  Safe travels to all heading out to celebrate with family and friends.

This afternoon will be unseasonably warm ... again ... with highs reaching a range of 73 to 77.  The wind will come from the south to southwest before another cold front coming late this afternoon/tonight.  Today's normal high is 69 degrees.

Current temperatures:

Moisture from the Pacific is coming to Texas from a northwest to southeast wind flow in the middle/upper levels of the atmosphere.  This day dawned with a mostly cloudy to overcast sky.  A lot of the surface clouds looked to have cleared out but the upper flow continued to bring in more clouds from the north.  The only real forecast issue for this afternoon will be how much of this will clear.  Let's go with a clouds/sun blend.

Some of the airport locations will measure wind speeds in the 10 to 15+ range during the day.  The wind will begin come from the southwest as the cold front gets closer.

Current wind/speeds/gusts:

Current forecasts show the front arriving late this afternoon into the evening.  It also appears that some of the area, especially east of I-35 could see a little rain from 5 this afternoon to 1 tomorrow morning.  The chance of rain will be 20% or less.  Any rain that is measured should be no more than .05" to .10".

The front delivers another strong north wind ... 10 to 20 mph tonight through Wednesday afternoon.

Lows tomorrow morning will fall to the middle to upper 40s.  Highs Wednesday, under a mostly sunny sky, will peak in the low 60s with a few Hill Country communities only making the upper 50s.

Wednesday will be a busy travel day.  In looking at tomorrow's national forecast it does not appear that weather should contribute to any significant delays.  Rain for the Pacific Northwest, a little snow from Minneapolis northward to Canada and a little rain for parts of New England,  Still, call ahead to find out about flights leaving or coming in to the area.

The sun goes down to a clear sky tomorrow night.  Dew points in the 20s/30s, light wind and the clear sky will help chill the air to mostly the middle to upper 30s Thanksgiving Day morning.  The afternoon will be mild thanks to a south wind with temperatures rising to the middle/upper 60s to a few in the low 70s.

Your 7 Day Forecast has shows a nice holiday weekend.  Another cold front arrives Sunday morning.

Have a good weekend.
