Cirrus clouds advanced into the area yesterday afternoon that helped create an awesome sunset.  The area has much more cloud cover today as an upper level trough moves through west Texas and southeast New Mexico.  There will be a 10% chance of rain this afternoon and evening.

Lows this morning were much warmer than the previous three mornings.  A southerly wind combined with higher dew points kept lows in the 50s.  The normal high today is 81.

The first of two upper-level troughs will glide west to east across Texas.  It's location in our area Friday will lead to a little better chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday.  A lower chance of rain will be in Saturday's forecast.  Highs Friday will be in the low 80s.  Fewer clouds Saturday afternoon will send highs to a range of 83 to 87.

The better chance of rain and thunderstorms will be overnight Saturday to Sunday morning.  A stronger upper-level trough along with the next cold front will combine to give the area a drink.  At this time, rain totals Sunday morning will average around .25" to .50".

If things time out correctly the front will be south of Central Texas by noon.  Clouds will clear during the afternoon with the departure of the upper-level trough.  A strong northwest wind will be in the afternoon forecast.

A big ridge of upper-level high pressure builds in from the Pacific to the western United States next week.  Look for a mostly sunny sky Monday to Thursday with cool morning and mild afternoons.  A dry cold front arrives Wednesday.

How temperatures are impacted by both fronts can be found on your 7 Day Forecast.

It's back to DKR Texas Memorial Stadium Saturday for the Horns.  Conditions for the 11 a.m. kick vs. Oklahoma State are mostly cloudy with a temperature in near 80.  A low rain chance is in the Saturday forecast.  The wind will come from the south 10 to 15 mph.

The tropics are quiet.

Have a good day.
