AUSTIN, Texas —  White House Doctor, Rear Admiral and native Texan Ronny Jackson has withdrawn as President’s Trump nominee to head the Department of Veterans Affairs. President Trump says he has an idea of who he wants to nominate but has yet to make an announcement. We speak to Jim Brennan, legislative director for the Texas Coalition of Veterans Organizations, about what the change in leadership means for Texas veterans.

Today Mike Pompeo was confirmed to be Secretary of State. He replaces Rex Tillerson who was fired in early March. The outgoing CIA Director and former Kansas Congressman was narrowly confirmed 57-42 with one Senator absent.

The number of women in prison in Texas is one of the highest in the country. A new report from the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition shows such women have access to fewer educational and vocational programs compared to incarcerated men. One of the report's authors will be in to discuss what can be done to give women more opportunities while incarcerated.
