TEXAS – U.S. troops will begin leaving the Mexico border this week.

More than 5,000 troops helped install barriers and assisted Border Patrol agents in California, Arizona, and Texas.

President Trump ordered the deployment to combat Central American migrants headed toward the border.

Officials said there is less need for combat engineers, but most military police will remain.
