AUSTIN, Texas – Voters in three city council districts will have their last chance to vote in the runoff elections.

  • Votes will determine seats for three districts
  • Runoff election on Tuesday
  • 18,000 votes in past two weeks

The stage is set for a runoff election on Tuesday where three seats in Districts 1, 3, and 8 will be up for grabs.

In District 1, voters will decide between Natasha Harper Madison and Mariana Salazar. Salazar said she wants to improve parks, and add infrastructure like sidewalks. Harper-Madison said she wants to help longtime residents keep their homes.

In District 3, incumbent Sabino Pio Renteria is taking on his sister Susana Almanza. Almanza is a prominent activist against gentrification in East Austin. Renteria is working to improve affordable housing.

In District 8, voters will decide between Paige Ellis and Frank Ward. Ward, endorsed by conservative incumbent Ellen Troxclaire, is focused on cutting property taxes. Ellis wants to ease traffic and make the city more affordable.

Nearly 18,000 people voted early in Travis County over the past two weeks. Early voting starts at 7 a.m. on Tuesday.
