BUDA, Texas -- The San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter has 35 cats from a large cruelty seizure in Buda available for adoption after the felines received negative Histoplasmosis test results.

• Cats that received negative test results and have been spayed or neutered are available
• Remaining cats are awaiting their second round of test results
• Shelter is holding a $5 cat adoption special

Animal Services Manager Kara Montiel said that the organization is excited to start finding forever homes for the animals.

“This whole endeavor would have been impossible without the support of local veterinary offices Tickle-Blagg Animal Hospital and Animal Care Center of Hays, and rescue partners PAWS of Central Texas, RedRover Responders and Animal Investigation and Response,” said Montiel.

All cats that receive negative test results and have been spayed or neutered will be immediately available for adoption at the shelter and online at the City of San Marcos website.

The remaining cats from the cruelty seizure are awaiting their second round of test results, undergoing continued medical treatment, or are scheduled for spay or neuter surgery prior to being made available for adoption.

-Adoption Special-

To encourage adoption of these lovable animals, the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter is holding a $5 cat adoption special from Monday, December 10, until Saturday, December 15. All adoptions include the animal’s spay or neuter, microchip, rabies vaccination, kennel vaccinations, and city license.
